WELCOME

WELCOME to our festival. Fieldview is a small and independent festival built by the Cameron brothers based around the principle that things are always better done yourself.

The Festival is DIY, not for profit, based around good people, good music, environmental preservation, and fun.
Now when we say fun we don't believe fun should ever cost the earth of one weeks wages (depending on the annual salary). We are very fortunate to have some of the best family and friends a pair of brothers could wish for, and every year we have been lucky enough to have people giving up large amounts of time doing all kinds of incredible things like building the festival from the ground up to creating this sexy website.

Please have a look around it, check the heroes section to see who's made this all possible. Have a look at all the great bands that have played FVF over the previous years.

Ethoes + Community

Fieldview has a very simple philosophy. Everyone has the power to have a positive impact in every action and decision they take. Fieldview uses this idea to run the festival as sensibly and positively as our budget will allow.
All our musicians and performers come from the UK, therefore meaning that we don’t fly anyone in to perform. There would be no point in having any green measures if we flew all our artists in from around the world. We primarily aim to support local music, but for us it comes down simply to whether the music takes our breath away. If it does, then we will love you to come and play.
For those who aren’t lucky enough to be invited to play, bring your instrument anyways, play at the open mike or join the camp fire jams and sing alongs.
We source all foods and equipment from local businesses, therefore investing in our local community. The festival is created by volunteers and all profits go to charity. This creates a very open event where everyone is giving their time not for financial benefits but because they believe in the event and its quality.

Down drive here, take the bus, it stops at the festival.
We build the stage from locally sourced and protected woods.
This year will see Fieldview going compostable in the toilet department, recreating the ‘posh loo’ vibe but without the massive transport miles, water , chemical use and spiraling costs.
We aim to introduce our audience to new and exciting musicians, artists, performers, foods and forms of lifestyle. From recycling workshops, to bicycled powered cinemas, Fieldview aims to show there are alternatives to the environmental costs of imported oil from overseas.
And for people who don’t believe in any of the above, Fieldview is a beautiful space for like minded individuals to smile, relax, dance and have fun

The Fieldview Community
Fieldview has always been a community and collective of different people. The Festival did not start with a localised approach, it started as friends coming together and in that sense the Fieldview community is based all across the country and even Europe. Anyone can join the community and be involved whether it be showcasing your talents or helping out so others can show case theirs. If you want to be a part of the community you can, just email here.
Fieldview’s HQ is always on the move and therefore we are not as active in the local community as we would like. If members of the local community would like to help us in this department please again email.

History

FVF has grown from a small garden party in our back garden to this sexy little monster.

2005

Fieldview 05

Our parents back garden, 3 bands, bouncy castle and approxiately 50ish people. I think there were about 4 tents.

2006

Fieldview 06

Still in the back garden, with cars parking and camping in the farmers field. We had 5 bands and we had just met Oz who came down and DJ'd till midnight which was when the police and enviromental health turned up!! It was a great night, we asked for donations from the 100 strong crowd that turned up to cover the costs of peoples travel and the epic BBQ that steve had laid on... I think we took about £20 ha ha... We learnt. Highlight had to be waking up sunday morning to find a car at the oppoesite end of the field (approximately 300m away), with three friends fully passed out with a flat battery. Pauline was not impressed!!!

2007

Fieldview 07

Where it all officially began. Nine bands, the BBQ, the stage, the field, the slip and slide, and £5 to enter the little field. With an approximate turn out of 200-250 people, the weather was AMAZING the generater eventually turned up with all of our friends plus a few more came, enjoyed, partied, and requested FV08.

Highlights: Definitely the slip n slide, and performances from Blackbud and headliners The Doubtful Guest.

2008

Fieldview 08

With the excitment surrounding 07 we knew that 08 was the year that we had to do it properly, we had now been living with Oz for a year, we had met some far better bands (the anomalies and 360). We built the stage our selves, we put up some form of acoustic stage, and some people turned up on the friday night for some planet earth and flight of the concords :) With approximately 400 people to party with, saturday greeted us with the worst weather Little Somerford had seen all summer. It rained all day, we thought the stage was gunna blow away, but it didn't and it was all good.

Highlights: The early performance from the Anomalies in the terrible weather and the incredible headiners and great friends 360.

2009

Fieldview 09

Last years festival was 100% more EPIC, it rained all day thursday, then the sun came out in force Friday morning. We had workshops, 2 new areas, merchandise and 15 bands lined up for the FV followers to enjoy, the excitement and energy on site was incredible. Highlights were definitely the Friday night acoustic performances from 360 +Rumbaba Deluxe there's nothing like a quiet skank. Picture Books early evening sun dance, followed by Danny and the Champions of the world and the mega headliners - Lazy Habits! We raised an epic £1350 for water aid, and at only £12.50 a ticket and with more fun had than humanly thought possible!!!! Basically it was incredible!

2010

More people more fun, and more sun hopefully! see you then, lets make some history!!
